Health magazine desired a website that was less magazine site and more an online destination for timely health information and news.
Starting from a blank slate (even the magazine's logo was redone), Health.com was re-envisioned as a health news and information portal. Beyond monthly magazine content, a variety of interactive tools, blogs and a health encyclopedia were all developed.
Defining the color palette for a health site was a challenge; certain colors evoke certain emotions when discussing health. Because of this, an abundance of reds (blood), certain yellows and greens (sickly) were avoided.
A variety of interactive tools were designed to help users answer specific health questions. The Pill Finder takes very simple descriptive parameters from the user and displays resulting matches.
Enlargement overlays of pill images were necessary to allow a clear look at each result.
Like the Pill Finder, the Symptom Checker takes in the user's symptoms and provides possible causes or conditions.
